How do I sign up?
Register your interest by sending us a message via the Contact Us page, or email us at info@shotterydance.co.uk.
What if I'm not sure I want to commit just yet?
No problem! We understand that everyone's looking for something different, so we offer a 2 week trial period to every new starter, or any existing pupil who would like to try out an additional class. This trial period enables you to only pay for 2 weeks' of classes in the first instance, before committing to the rest of the term if you would like. The cost of this trial period will then be deducted from your termly invoice. Send us a message or email us to sign up for your trial period!
Do I need previous dance experience?
Not at all! We welcome all ages and abilities at Shottery School of Dance, whether you're an experienced performer or have never stepped foot in a dance studio. If you're unsure of which classes are best for you & would like some advice from our team, please don't hesitate to contact us.
What do I need to bring to my first class?
Just yourself! We can provide you with the appropriate footwear/equipment for your first class, subject to availability. Make sure you're wearing comfortable clothes which don't restrict movement. For ballet, we recommend tighter-fitting clothing, as loose clothes can interfere with movement. If you're unsure, please ask!
Who will be teaching my class?
Here at Shottery School of Dance, we have a committed team of regular & consistent teachers. All regular weekly classes are currently taught by Izzy & we are very fortunate to have the additional experience of Lizzie for holiday workshops/seasonal classes. All teachers are fully qualified, DBS checked and trained in first aid/safeguarding. To find out more about our teachers, please see the 'Our Staff' page of the website.

What style of dance is best for my child?
Every child is different and it's normal for different children to enjoy different styles of dance. The best way to decide what's best for your child is to come along & give it a go! Children are obviously welcome to attend as many classes as they like, and we offer parents discounts on multiple classes, as well as sibling discounts. To find out more, please see the Classes page of the website, or contact us.
Will my child be able to take dance examinations?
Yes! We will offer all children the opportunity to take their dance exams through ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) in Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre & Contemporary. Exams start at Pre Primary & continue through to Vocational level. Exams are an excellent way to improve your dance technique, memory, confidence & performance skills. They provide children with an additional milestone to work towards, and an important sense of achievement! Participation in exams is completely optional, and children who do not wish to sit their exams will still be able to learn the same syllabus & technique work.
How do you organise payments?
Classes are charged termly at a fixed price (please enquire directly for exact charges & costs). The length of the term will be organised to match Warwickshire schools holiday dates, so will vary between 9-12 weeks. Discounts are offered for every additional class a child signs up to, and we also have sibling discounts available. We ask for all payments to be sent via bank transfer. The only exception is for adult classes, which will be charged on a PAYG basis via our online booking platform.
What are dance festivals?
Dance festivals are competitions where your child has the opportunity to perform with, and compete against, other dance schools in the area. Festivals include solos, duets & troupe dances in all styles, and dancers are usually categorised either as novice (beginner) or open (inter-advanced). The festivals & competitions we attend are always friendly and supportive environments, so are a great way to increase a child's confidence in performing on stage. They also offer more milestones for the children to work towards & an increased love of performance! To find out more about getting your child involved in festivals, please get in touch.
